About Sinnissippi Centers

Sinnissippi Centers, Inc. (hereafter referred to as Sinnissippi) was established in May of 1966 to provide mental health treatment services to individuals a four county area: Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside counties in Northwest Illinois. That first year Sinnissippi served over 900 individuals. Today that number is almost 10,000 and we have expanded to add services to Stephenson, Bureau and Henry Counties. Over the years, Sinnissippi has added over 30 programs and individual and group services. Our current service offering includes (not limited to) 

  • substance use treatment, 
  • recovery support, 
  • early childhood mental health, 
  • intensive outpatient services, 
  • trauma informed care, 
  • psychiatric services, 
  • domestic violence intervention, 
  • crisis stabilization and 24-hour crisis/emergency service, 
  • ADHD treatment, 
  • individual and family counseling, 
  • case management, 
  • parent support, 
  • mental health first aid trainings, 
  • recovery home services and 
  • supervised residential living to individuals with a serious mental illness. 

Over our 50+ year history Sinnissippi grew from two main outpatient office locations to five and established four residential apartment sites as well as two Recovery Homes. Sinnissippi has been the recipient of the Ernest A. Codman Award from the Joint Commission as well as the American Psychiatric Association’s Psychiatric Services Award. Sinnissippi Centers has been accredited by the Joint Commission since 1997.
